Edinburgh City - Drug & Alcohol Education

Create was commissioned by Edinburgh City Council Children & Families Department to carry out a review of drug & alcohol education in 5 secondary schools, 5 primary schools (from one school cluster) and 4 youth organisations in the North Edinburgh area.

This involved meeting with representatives from each of the schools & youth organisations to explore their current drug & alcohol education programmes planning, delivery and content, existing gaps, and suggestions for strengthening drug and alcohol education including improved links between schools and youth organisations; and running focus groups with young people to explore their experience of drug & alcohol education and their views on ways it could be improved.

A final report has now been provided to the Children & Families Department with key recommendations for taking forward drug & alcohol education.
