"You have made a massive impact on our drug education and it was an absolute pleasure working with you."
At the heart of Create Consultancy is the work that we do with primary and secondary schools on their health curricula. Our enthusiasm and expertees in this area has grown and developed alongside new national policies such as Curriculum for Excellence. We can offer schools a range of services from reviewing current practice to developing new tailored lesson plans and materials.
We can adapt our services to meet the needs of each individual school or council area but in general our schools work often takes the following forms:
Our Consultants will visit the school and meet with key staff to review current practice in Health and Wellbeing education within the school, and will provide feedback and recommendations based on what is discussed and the materials provided. In addition Create can map current learning outcomes against the new Health and Wellbeing outcomes of Curriculum for Excellence to ensure that these are met. Many schools find this a very useful exercise and can then address any identified gaps.
Create offers a bespoke service to individual schools which includes the provision of a completely revised and up to date curriculum in line with best practice, HMIE guidance and Curriculum for Excellence. These learning outcomes and lesson plans can be tailored to the specific needs of each school. In line with the principles of Curriculum for Excellence this is done in a way which allows staff flexibility in teaching methods and cross curricular working while ensuring that pupil learning outcomes are met.
Create lesson plans are renowned for their simplicity and ease of use. Each lesson plan includes learning outcomes, notes on materials, step by step instructions and an innovative "Key Messages" box which acts both as an at a glance guide to the point of the lesson and an easy to use tool for summing up. This approach ensures that teachers with different levels of experience can effectively deliver the lesson.
Create can also help schools to enhance their approach to youth health issues. One way we do this is to support schools to develop health or drug and alcohol policies.
The list of services described here is not definitive. Please contact us direct to discuss your organisation or schools needs.
At Create we are well aware that many of the difficulties in the delivery of Health and Wellbeing education stems from low staff confidence in areas that are often perceived as difficult or sensitive subject areas. Our tailored training courses can equip all staff – including those who are not guidance/pastoral care with the knowledge and confidence needed to effectively deliver lessons in these areas.
We offer a wide range of training courses for school staff that are available as bespoke courses for individual schools, clusters or education authorities.
We offer a wide range of flexible training solutions including daytime; twilight and evening sessions; short in-service inputs to large groups or small workshops and hands on sessions with PSE working groups. To discuss your requirements and get a better idea of costs please contact us.
